Lend Lease people are imaginative, passionate and proud of what they do. They’re pro-active and driven, willing to learn new skills, committed to excellence, and also aware of the social and environmental impacts of their actions.
Respect for one another is a cornerstone of the Lend Lease culture. It’s the common denominator that binds its people, regardless of who they are or what we do, and the thing that creates a caring and inclusive working environment where safety, support, and a sense of belonging are paramount.
Lend Lease is proud it’s an equal opportunity employer, seeking to hire the very best people regardless of race, colour, religion, ethnicity, gender, national origin, sexual orientation or identity, marital status, age, veteran status, political affiliation, disability or health status.
Lend Lease – our people
In 2010 Rod Leaver, then CEO Lend Lease Australia said:
"Lend Lease is honoured to be a founding member of the Pride in Diversity initiative. It reinforces our commitment to achieving true equality in the workplace, where our employees are acknowledged and celebrated for their skills and achievements."
Lend Lease’s core values underpin its culture, and the way its employees interact with each other, their partners, customers, clients and investors. Employees RESPECT all people; behave with INTEGRITY at all times; encourage INNOVATION and COLLABORATION; and continually strive for EXCELLENCE.
Lend Lease employees are as diverse as the projects and regions in which the Group operates. As an equal opportunity employer, the company seeks to employ the best person for the job – taking into account their skills and experience, and assessing their ability to live by the core values that underpin the culture.
As a result, Lend Lease people are imaginative, passionate and proud of what they do. They come from a wide range of backgrounds and work across some of the world's most interesting and challenging property projects.
Employees come together to build an environment where people prosper. From graduates embarking on a new journey to seasoned professionals seeking fresh challenges, Lend Lease abounds with opportunities for all, and nurtures its teams to create a positive and fulfilling work environment.
Our commitment to diversity
This is an opportunity to allow you to promote your organisation’s LGBT employees. You could talk about your LGBT resource group or have one of your staff members comment on their experiences of being LGBT and working for you.
Our aim is to create environments in which individuals are involved, supported, respected and connected so their maximum potential is reached. Where people are respected for who they are and what they do. This means a workplace in which diversity is valued; in which everyone has the opportunity to develop skills and talents consistent with our values and business objectives. A diverse workplace leads to greater creativity and improved leadership effectiveness. We want Lend Lease to be a company where the best people want to work.
Lend Lease strives to promote and encourage inclusiveness in all that it does. Our leadership team values diversity, and is focused on ensuring all employees support and value each other for the vast array of skills and experience everyone brings to the organisation. Being a founding member of the Pride in Diversity initiative provides an excellent opportunity to reinforce our commitment to maintaining an inclusive culture, both internally and externally.
As part of Lend Lease’s commitment to achieving equality in the workplace, the Lend Lease Australian Diversity Council created an Employee Resource Group (ERG) to support LGBTI employees.
The ERG has a number of goals. In addition to supporting LGBTI employees by guiding policy, providing resources, networking opportunities, mentoring and assisting with career development, the Group is just as focused on ensuring the broader Lend Lease community embraces its diverse workforce.
The ERG is also a vehicle for employees who need to access like-minded individuals or mentors, particularly if they are experiencing difficulties in their work environment.
The ERG is a relatively new initiative, and still has a way to go in terms of achieving its goals. One of its first aims is to ensure employees know that the ERG exists, and that support is available if needed. The Group also wants to reinforce that Lend Lease is an organisation where everyone is encouraged to be themselves.
Martin Hunt has been with Lend Lease for three years, working as a Project Manager within Bovis Lend Lease’s residential business. Martin is currently working on Lend Lease’s Housing Stimulus Program, and is also chairing the LGBTI Employee Resource Group, which was set up by Lend Lease’s Diversity Council.
“Lend Lease is genuinely committed to achieving true equality across its workforce, embracing us all for our differences and similarities. We are focused on dealing with issues and concerns through education and communication, and we want to ensure everyone is equally treated – no positive or negative discrimination.
“We’re very proud of the fact that Lend Lease is the first property company to join the Pride in Diversity initiative, and it’s important that our industry peers know that we are an open-minded organisation, where LBGTI employees are treated just like everyone else.”
