Being LGBT, working here

Sexual orientation is a key focus for KPMG. We want to ensure all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation, are attracted to work for KPMG and feel comfortable in their work environment. It is also about encouraging people to bring their whole selves to work and to celebrate diversity within our firm.

KPMG has shown commitment to this through the establishment of KGEN – KPMG's Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Employee Network. The network aims to support gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) employees by providing an opportunity to meet other GLBT employees. The network encourages the sharing of ideas and experiences and provides a forum to discuss issues that may impact the work they do as KPMG staff. The network also acts as a means of informing KPMG's diversity agenda.

Insider Info

“Working with different clients, meeting people, developing a broad range of skills and being constantly challenged…these are some of the perks a career at KPMG can offer. I have worked in two different cities and two different divisions within KPMG and developed a range of skills through working on a variety of engagements.

KPMG is a challenging and diverse environment, and respect is a key feature. Within the constraints of the firm’s professional values, if you’re comfortable with who you are, you can be yourself knowing that diversity is valued at KPMG. You may find yourself in a challenging situation as attitudes change, but there is plenty of support and the firm is committed to changing attitudes and valuing diversity. I have had the opportunity to work with colleagues in the Melbourne office to establish KGEN, KPMG’s GLBT Employee Network and build that into my personal goals which has been a rewarding experience.”
